ABE/GED
ABE (Adult Basic Education) classes and GED (General Educational Development) are offered at all VRAE locations. VRAE's Learning Lab provides a success-oriented setting for students seeking Adult Basic Education (ABE) or their GED High School Equivalency Diploma. Success is attained through self-paced, individualized and group instruction. A customized curriculum is prescribed to meet each student's needs and is tracked through individual student portfolios. Students who are ready to prepare for the State-administered GED exam receive instruction in five subject areas: Language Arts/Reading, Language Arts/Writing, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science. This program is open to students, aged 16 years and older, who are officially withdrawn from school.
GED Exam Eligibility: Applicants must be at least 17 years of age or older and no longer enrolled in school. Students who are 17 and 18 years old must submit documentation stating that: a) they have been officially withdrawn from school for six months or more prior to registering for the GED, or b) the class they entered (or would have entered) in 9th grade has already graduated.
Are you ready for the GED Examination? Take a free GED Practice Test and find out. For information on the GED and the GED Practice Test, call 924-6651.
