Valley Regional's ESL program helped a lot. Now, I don't have a problem with communicating at my work. I can go shopping by myself, to the bank and talk with other people.

Community partnerships strengthen connections among individuals and community resources to share interests and concerns, in order to create a vibrant vision for the Valley's future.

• Valley Regional Adult Education (VRAE) was the first regionalized adult education program in Connecticut, serving the communities of Ansonia, Derby, Monroe, Seymour and Shelton.
• VRAE publishes its catalog twice a year. It is mailed to every household in its five-town area.
• VRAE is a member of the Valley Council of Health & Human Services Organizations, comprised of over 60 local agencies.
• VRAE's student population represents more than 50 countries.
• In 2004, the Valley Enrichment Program was established by merging the adult enrichment programs of Shelton, Ansonia and Derby.
• In 2003, VRAE Director was presented the Connecticut Adult Leadership Award for Outstanding Service.
• In 2002, VRAE formed its Advisory Council representing a diversity of agencies from the community we serve.
• In 2002, VRAE was selected to represent Connecticut Adult Education as a model adult education program and was presented to the Connecticut State Board of Education.
• VRAE is an official GED test site for the State of Connecticut, Department of Adult Education and Nutrition Programs.
• In 2002, VRAE hosted a presentation from New Haven Legal Assistance Association, "Legal Services Programs in Connecticut."
• In 2001, Housatonic Community-Technical College established a scholarship for VRAE graduates.
